Discover Vidor

Today Vidor is an important wine-making  center, whose hilly landscape, with its wine-growing steep slopes, offers breath-taking and naturalistic views. The hilly part of the municipal territory is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco hills”.

A bit of history. . .

Inhabited since prehistoric times, Vidor became important in medieval times thanks to its river port, the castle and the abbey of Santa Bona, built in 1100, thanks to the presence of the feudal nobility. In the 19th  century Vidor saw an industrial development with brick kilns, mechanical workshops and the famous Zadra spinning mills. During the First World War, Vidor was in the front line thanks to its strategic position and its bridge over the river Piave. During the fierce fighting, the village was almost completely destroyed, and part of the artistic heritage, such as the church and the abbey, was also damaged.
